Resetting a variable-frequency drive may clear a trip without removing its cause. Record the exact fault code, affected motion, load condition, speed command, ambient temperature, supply voltage, recurrence pattern and recent work before changing parameters.

Overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, thermal, motor, encoder or communication faults may be linked to mechanical binding, delayed brake release, unsuitable ramps, motor or cable issues, grounding, parameter errors or supply disturbances. Motor, brake, gearbox and driven mechanism must be assessed together.

Parameters should not be altered without verified motor data, braking arrangement and functional requirements. Unauthorized changes can affect stopping distance, load control and protection. Preserve fault history and a parameter backup for service analysis.
